Webinar Reaxys autunno - inverno 2026

Elsevier, the publisher of the database Reaxys, to which the Library System has subscribed for years, is organizing a series of webinars to guide you through the discovery of Reaxys Academic Edition, one subject area at a time.
The sessions will be led in English by Piotr Golkiewicz. Each session lasts one hour (3:00–4:00 PM) and is available live on Microsoft Teams:

Tuesday, October 6, 3:00–4:00 PM: Planning Synthesis (Organic & Inorganic)
From reaction searches by name, structure or free text to AI-powered retrosynthesis via Iktos: this session showcases how Reaxys Academic Edition supports the full synthetic design cycle. We will explore coverage across organic and inorganic chemistry, catalysis (organometallic, homogeneous and heterogeneous), flow chemistry and photochemistry — demonstrating that Reaxys is far more than an organic chemistry tool.
REGISTRATION

Tuesday, October 20, 3:00–4:00 PM: MedChem & Pharma
Reaxys Academic Edition is a powerful tool for medicinal chemistry and pharmaceutical research. In this session we will explore structure–activity relationship (SAR) analysis, bioactivity visualisation with measured parameters, searches on amino acid sequences and oligoproteins, and enzymatic reactions. A session designed for researchers working at the interface of chemistry and life sciences.
REGISTRATION

Tuesday, November 3, 3:00–4:00 PM: Material Science & Chemical Engineering
Materials science and chemical engineering are among the fastest-growing areas in Italian academic research. This session shows how Reaxys Academic Edition enables searches on physico-chemical properties (viscosity, hardness, mechanical data), alloys, semiconductors, magnetic and electrical materials, polymers and alternative energy solutions. We will also explore how the platform supports the scale-up process from laboratory to industrial scale.
REGISTRATION

Tuesday, November 17, 3:00–4:00 PM: Analysing Compounds
Compound analysis and characterisation sit at the heart of every chemistry research workflow. This session illustrates how Reaxys Academic Edition provides access to spectroscopic data, optical techniques, chromatography, sensors (paper, molecular and biosensors), and surface analysis methods including XRD and XPS. A guided tour of the platform's analytical characterisation capabilities.
REGISTRATION

Tuesday, December 1, 3:00–4:00 PM: Prior Art Search
Patent prior art search is an increasingly essential skill in academic research, particularly for those involved in technology transfer and research valorisation. This session shows how Reaxys Academic Edition integrates data from 105 patent offices worldwide, updated weekly, enabling prior art searches on reactions, substances and properties directly within the same platform used for fundamental chemistry research.
REGISTRATION

Tuesday, December 15, 3:00–4:00 PM: Green Chemistry
Green chemistry is a central priority in European research, and one where Reaxys Academic Edition offers unique capabilities. In this session we will explore how the platform supports research on green solvents, sustainable synthesis methods (microwave-assisted, mechanochemistry), enzymatic reactions, supercritical solvents and solventless (neat) reactions. We will also cover material recycling, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), food waste valorisation and plastic reprocessing — a comprehensive overview of Reaxys as a tool for sustainability-driven research.
